The Alexa Smart Home team’s mission is to help customers get the most out of the technology in their homes. The Smart Home Business Development team is looking for a Sr. Business Development Manager to lead strategic partnerships with device makers and solution providers that will revolutionize the smart home experience for customers.
Key job responsibilities
Your responsibilities include defining and driving the partnership strategy with leading smart home service providers to bring new experiences to customers. You will foster relationships with SVP/CxO level leaders in those organizations and be the voice of the partner to shape the Alexa Smart Home product and business strategy. The ideal candidate will have experience driving nascent technologies, a proven track record of leading successful negotiations, and the technical and business aptitude to drive deals with partners.
- Define the Alexa Smart Home partnership strategy to bring compelling experiences to customers
- Identify and recruit key partners and build both executive and working-level relationships across technical and business disciplines
- Lead
cross-functional teams including Product, Operations, Engineering, Legal, Finance, and senior management to meet business objectives
- Lead complex contract negotiations defining key technical, financial, and business commitments
- Understand the technical and business requirements of our partners and work closely with the internal teams to guide the direction of our roadmap

In this role, you will be the face of Amazon Smart Home to our partners and will work with Amazon product, engineering, and marketing leaders to define product and business strategy that delivers results for customers and our business. You will utilize technical skills and business acumen to create strategic partnerships that deliver innovative new experiences customers worldwide.

The Smart Home Business Development Team operates with individual autonomy and ownership, where business development managers are single threaded owner of their partnerships. We are results oriented, take a collaborative approach to the business, and foster a culture of innovation to improve the customer and partner experience.
- Bachelor's degree
- 6+ years of developing, negotiating and executing business agreements experience
- 6+ years of professional or military experience
- Experience developing strategies that influence leadership decisions at the organizational level
- Experience interpreting data and making business recommendations
- MBA
- Experience identifying, developing, negotiating, and closing large-scale technology deals
- Strong problem-solving skills; ability to analyze issues and create appropriate tactical plans.
- Demonstrated competence in working independently to structure, negotiate, and close partnerships with leading companies, particularly with connected hardware manufacturers.
- Familiarity with IoT, connected home and/or technical integrations with hardware manufacturers.
- Technical competency; comfort identifying key issues, understanding their business development implications and discussing alternative solutions.
- Excellent communication and persuasion skills; demonstrated success getting buy-in for innovative and bold projects.
- Experience using AI tools to build pipelines, accelerate partner negotiations, and deal closure.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
