Job description
As a member of Google’s Government Affairs and Public Policy team, you'll be part of a global government affairs team, working across regions, product areas, and functions. You’ll combine creativity and intellectual excellence with the organizational skills to manage various campaigns, projects and initiatives. In this role, you’ll advocate for Google to bring external perspectives back into the company to inform our perception and direction. You're passionate about the opportunity to shape the future of how we use and build technology for everyone.
Google takes its responsibilities seriously, including engaging with government and other stakeholders on important public policy challenges. The Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team leads the company’s engagement with executive branch officials, legislators, regulators and third-parties in the formation of public policy. Working closely with Google leaders, GAPP seeks to identify key policy issues, listen carefully to others’ views and opinions, and distill and share the company’s perspective on those issues with external stakeholders. While we focus on challenges affecting the internet, our issue areas are increasingly broad and encompass many areas where public policy, business, and technology intersect.Responsibilities
- Work with policymakers, subject-matter experts, and colleagues around the world to develop policy strategies that support economic growth and competitiveness.
- Partner closely with Google's economics team and local teams to develop economic arguments, analysis, reports, and narratives that help inform policymakers and support pro-innovation policy.
- Assess and articulate Google’s economic impact for policymakers including how Google's products, investments, and infrastructure support economic growth and broaden access to economic opportunity.
- Analyze AI impact on labor and education, and develop strategies for governments and the private sector to ensure that these technologies benefit workers across all sectors of the economy.
- Develop public policy proposals aimed at driving economic competitiveness, enabling infrastructure growth, supporting AI development, and addressing workforce and education issues.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 10 years of experience on economic issues related to technology, including frequent interactions with policymakers.
- Experience in economics and technology policy.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master’s degree or other advanced degrees in Economics.
- Experience working with international teams and executing strategies to deliver policy solutions.
- Ability to gather insights and communicate about complex technology policy issues to policymakers and a general audience.
- Ability to collaborate and build partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
