Job description

Our Security team works to create and maintain the safest operating environment for Google's users and developers. Security Engineers work with network equipment and actively monitor our systems for attacks and intrusions. In this role, you will also work with software engineers to proactively identify and fix security flaws and vulnerabilities.

Product Security Engineering is the team within the Cloud CISO organization responsible for helping ensure every product in Cloud is as secure as it can be, and increasing the security in the infrastructure underlying all our products.

Cloud Red Team's mission is to evaluate our ability to detect and respond to known and unknown threats by simulating real-world adversaries that aim to compromise and persist in Cloud’s infrastructure.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $207,000-$300,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Work with Cloud security teams and Alphabet-wide partners to shape and maintain strategy on one or more focus areas for Cloud Red Team.
  • Design realistic and relevant attack scenarios based on current threat intelligence and the specific Cloud environment being assessed.
  • Work within a highly-skilled team to plan and execute attacks against Cloud’s products, services, and infrastructure.
  • Identify vulnerabilities and attack vectors within Cloud services, configurations, and related technologies.
  • Contribute with subject matter expertise to directly support remediation of multi-faceted, ambiguous security problems.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience with security assessments or security design reviews or threat modeling.
  • 8 years of experience with security engineering, computer and network security and security protocols.
  • 8 years of coding experience in one or more general purpose languages.
  • Experience in vulnerability research or pen testing.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in offensive security (red teaming, vulnerability research, pen testing, etc.) in a cloud environment.
