Job description
Google accountants are a savvy bunch who handle the core accounting responsibilities at Google. You know your accounting principles and the full accounting process end to end. You'll advise on financial reports required by governmental regulations, and review, analyze, and interpret financial and budgetary reports. Every day is a new challenge, and you're continually looking for ways to help our team become more efficient and effective. A team player at heart, you collaborate with our global team, advocate best practices and pitch in where needed. You move fast while keeping your attention to detail, and you tap into your problem-solving skills to support business objectives.
You'll lead an accounting process from end-to-end. Other responsibilities include reconciling balance sheets and P&L accounts, and providing supplementary financial information for internal and external reports.
The name Google came from "googol," a mathematical term for the number 1 followed by 100 zeros. And nobody at Google loves big numbers like the Finance team when providing in depth analysis on all manner of strategic decisions across Google products. From developing forward-thinking analysis to generating management reports to scaling our automated financial processes, the Finance organization is an important partner and advisor to the business.
Responsibilities
- Provide timely, consistent responses to global requests for disclosures. Coordinate Finance, Legal, and Sustainability leadership prior to disclosure, resolving all challenges, questions, or requests for additional information.
- Work with other members of the external reporting team and experts across the company to develop global financial and sustainability content to meet various reporting needs. Ensure finance leadership is consulted on strategy and usage.
- Advise partners on methodologies and governance models that are supported by Accounting and Finance reporting best practices (e.g., metrics accounting policies and estimation approaches, disclosure controls and procedures).
- Co-develop efficient and well-controlled process flows, build quality controls across the end-to-end business processes from data sources through disclosures. Leverage AI tooling and build strong working relationships to optimize process flows and ensure well-coordinated disclosure cycles.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent practical experience.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA).
- 7 years of experience in accounting or a related function, or 5 years with an advanced degree in accounting, business, or finance.
Preferred qualifications:
- MBA or MSA.
- Experience in a combination of accounting and financial reporting, regulatory reporting, internal controls, audit, risk management, data management, sustainability reporting, or related fields.
- Experience managing project planning, status reporting, timeline estimation, issue tracking, meeting facilitation, and project documentation.
- Ability to have strong attention to details, and focus on continuous improvement.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional and international teams.
- Excellent investigative and organizational skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with executive management.
