Job description
As a hardware system engineer on our team, you’ll leverage your expertise in hardware engineering and collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect products from the initial concept stage to their mass production. You will own complete architectures, ranging from schematic, overseeing layout, bring up, debug, and validation. You’ll be responsible for solving challenging engineering problems and working closely with our cross-functional partners at Apple’s various office locations.
The ideal candidate is someone who independently solves complex problems utilizing strong analytical skills and creatively provides solutions. They communicate effectively to varying audiences and are able to collaborate with cross functional teams and drive toward a common goal. They have a deep understanding in electrical engineering fundamentals and have an understanding of technical foundations in cross functional disciplines.
Select components and provide tradeoff studies, developing with internal/external silicon, designing schematics, working closely with layout engineers.
Define test criteria and perform validation and debug on prototypes.
Utilize schematic capture, simulation tools.
Provide guidance to PCB Engineer and reviews layout.
Use electrical equipment to validate design and debug complex electrical failures.
Demonstrate success in a fast-paced design environment with the ability to multitask and self-prioritize workload.
Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership are essential qualities.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
7+ years experience in hardware systems design
Design of complex system architectures with strong electrical engineering fundamentals
Ability to identify design tradeoffs and optimize circuits to meet product requirements.
Demonstrated ability to bring up, debug, and validate circuitry
Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
In-depth knowledge of RF systems, batteries, audio systems, SiPs, sensor definition/integration.
Expertise in SOC/MCU integration, power architecture, Bluetooth
Experience developing high-volume consumer electronic products from concept to mass production and working with contract manufacturers.
Understands schematic/PCB constraints and has worked on complicated rigid/flex/SiP designs.
Highly skilled with DMMs, electronic loads, power supplies, oscilloscopes, battery simulators, and spectrum analyzers.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $171,600 and $302,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
