Modern applications are architected as distributed collections of microservices. A service mesh is a dedicated infrastructure layer for transparently adding capabilities like observability, traffic management, and security. The CSM (Cloud Service Mesh) Platform is a critical component of Google Cloud's Service Centric Networking, acting as the foundation for AI enablements and next-generation Agentic workloads. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality features and components with minimal guidance from executive team members, taking full ownership of assigned project work.
- Scope and solve technical problems across the team's systems, clarifying requirements and proactively seeking input when necessary.
- Build systems and tools to automate common operations (e.g., installation, upgrades, and troubleshooting) on customer clusters.
- Maintain clear communication and respectful collaboration with Technical Leads, peers, and partner teams across CSM and GCP (Google Cloud Platform).
- Ensure a frictionless and resilient experience.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience with software development or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
- 2 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.
- Experience developing and deploying containerized applications on Kubernetes.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
- Experience with C++ or Go programming languages.
- Experience building networking components and products (e.g., load balancers, firewalls, NAT, SDN, switches/routers, CDN, network protocols, or caching).
