Job description
Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain, you will be the procurement and commercial authority on all related contracts, change orders, and claims. You will partner closely with teams across the organization to drive accountability across the supply chain and throughout the process. You will influence senior leadership on strategic direction and investment decisions related to construction procurement.
Key job responsibilities
- You will oversee the commercial performance of the general contractor and all subcontractors across multiple project portfolios, ensuring adherence to contract terms, project milestones, quality standards, and budget targets throughout the project’s lifecycle.
- You will lead construction procurement activities, including subcontractor prequalification, bid leveling, scope validation, and award recommendations for particular trades. Define and implement sourcing approaches that optimize cost efficiency while advancing technical capabilities.
- You will own contract administration for all related agreements, including GC and subcontractor contracts, change order management, claims resolution, payment application review and more — ensuring terms protect Amazon's interests and align with project delivery objectives.
- You will build and maintain strategic supplier partnerships with general contractors and subcontractors to accelerate project delivery, innovation, and performance. Establish and manage GC and subcontractor performance programs, including schedule tracking, quality scorecards, safety compliance reviews, and regular progress meetings, Develop comprehensive risk management frameworks, identifying and escalating risks proactively.
- You will develop and own the related procurement playbook, standard operating procedures, and commercial governance frameworks — setting the standard for how this function operates and scales. Mentor and guide procurement team members through technical guidance and thought leadership.
- You will partner cross-functionally with teams across the organization to align procurement timelines with milestones, utility readiness, and schedules. Influence senior leadership on strategic direction and investment decisions related to construction procurement.
About the team
Amazon is building the next generation of advanced automation technology, and this role is critical to our vision. Our Supply Chain team is responsible for standing up and scaling the procurement, sourcing, and supplier management functions in this space. We are a small, high-impact team solving complex problems and we are looking for builders who want to shape something from the ground up. - Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field
- 12+ years of experience in construction supply chain, construction procurement, or commercial management
- Experience overseeing general contractor and subcontractor performance across on projects valued at $100M+
- Experience leading contract negotiations, change order management, and claims resolution for complex programs
- Experience with subcontractor prequalification, bid leveling, and scope validation across multiple trades
- Technical background or demonstrated experience in automation, construction technology, or new project introduction - MBA or advanced degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field
- Experience in automation, high-tech or related environments
- Experience with systems design coordination, commissioning processes, and utility procurement
- Knowledge of local and applicable codes and regulations, permitting processes, and safety requirements
- Experience managing significant budgets with demonstrated cost control and value engineering results
- Leadership experience managing or mentoring cross-functional teams in a technical project delivery environment
- Proven ability to influence at senior leadership levels on strategic procurement and investment decisions

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
