The Advanced Robotics Finance team seeks a Principal Finance Manager to lead the Robotics Software and AI Development Finance team. This position reports to the CFO of Advanced Robotics (Finance Director). This role demands full
P&L ownership across a multi-billion-dollar program spanning next-generation AI-powered robotics software systems, foundation model development, and advanced automation platforms deployed at global scale.
The successful candidate will lead a high-performing team of finance managers and analysts, translating breakthrough robotics software and AI innovation into disciplined financial frameworks while partnering with senior technical and operational leaders. This individual must think and act both strategically and tactically, possess solid business judgment and strong analytical skills, and demonstrate the ability to dive deep into data and problem-solving. They will own financial reporting, build financial models with minimal guidance, and communicate insights clearly to drive improvements with global impact.

P&L Ownership & Strategic Finance: Own the Robotics Software and AI Development
P&L including CapEx/OpEx management and margin performance across foundation model development, AI systems research, and software platform programs; architect long-range planning frameworks supporting multi-year investment decisions; lead financial models supporting billions in CapEx; establish scalable
P&L structures across the robotics AI portfolio
- Financial Leadership & Business Partnership: Serve as primary finance advisor to technology leadership driving the robotics software and AI transformation; translate complex AI research and software development plans into clear financial implications including unit economics, investment payback, and risk scenarios; partner with Engineering and Operations teams across navigation, locomotion, and manipulation capability areas; influence capital allocation decisions across the robotics software platform
- Framework Development & Institutionalization: Design and institutionalize durable financial mechanisms that scale across robotics software and AI development organizations and downstream business units; develop capital governance frameworks, investment review models, and cost transparency mechanisms; establish repeatable evaluation processes for capital-intensive AI research and software development investments
- Financial Analysis & Decision Support: Provide
go/no-
go decision support through financial modeling and trend analysis across the robotics AI program portfolio; develop metrics reporting and audit mechanisms to measure program performance against annual and multi-year goals; implement governance and early warning systems to manage execution risk across research and deployment timelines
- Technical & Domain Expertise: Develop deep fluency in robotics software and AI development economics; evaluate capital-intensive technology investments across foundation model development, simulation pipelines, and large-scale training infrastructure; translate complex robotics AI programs into financial frameworks that drive strategic decisions and shape how Amazon evaluates investments in robotics software and AI systems
- Team Leadership & Development: Build and lead a high-performing finance team supporting the expanding scope of the Robotics Software and AI Development organization; hire, manage, and develop finance professionals; mentor team members in robotics AI finance and capital planning; develop the next generation of finance leaders with specialized knowledge in foundation model economics and robotics software development
- 12+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
- 7+ years of finance technology, forecast & budgeting, or other finance-focused competency experience
- 8+ years of dissecting financial data and identifying patterns that support business strategy experience
- 8+ years of spearheading strategic
cross-functional initiatives that deliver measurable financial results and advance organizational objectives experience
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics or a highly analytical field (e.g., Engineering, Math, and Computer Science)
- Experience with
Tableau,
Python, SQB, Quicksight, Cognos or or other BI packages
- MBA, or CPA
- Experience in a leadership position managing finance, accounting and operational processes

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
