Job description

A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

The Software Engineer Agents team operates within the AI Innovation and Research (AIR) organization's mission is to create intelligent agents that self-sustain build, maintain, and secure applications, make engineers 100x more productive, organizations 10x more effective, and democratize application development for all users. We are pushing the boundaries of automation by combining foundational models with deep context and multi-agent systems.

As a Technical Program Manager for the Software Engineer Agents team, you will drive the strategic goal and execution of Google's most motivated agentic AI initiatives aimed at transforming the software development lifecycle. You will sit at the intersection of AI and product, leading complex, cross-functional programs such as democratizing app creation and creating a virtual software engineering workforce. This high-impact role requires exceptional cross-functional leadership to navigate extreme ambiguity from 0-to-1 product phases. You will partner closely with DeepMind, Android, Google Play, Core Developer, and Trust and Safety to bring self-sustain agents to life for major launches at Google I/O and made by Google.

Google's mission is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. Our Devices & Services team combines the best of Google AI, Software, and Hardware to create radically helpful experiences for users. We research, design, and develop new technologies and hardware to make our user's interaction with computing faster, seamless, and more powerful. Whether finding new ways to capture and sense the world around us, advancing form factors, or improving interaction methods, the Devices & Services team is making people's lives better through technology.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $240,000-$334,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Learn more about benefits at Google.

  • Drive the cross-functional delivery of high-profile initiatives enabling non-technical users to generate, iterate, and share apps and dynamic web experiences using natural language.
  • Operationalize self-sustaining workforce pilots across key Platforms and Devices (P&D) partner teams (Android, Fuchsia, Chrome) to manage the integrations and issue trackers, revolutionizing engineering velocity.
  • Partner with trust and safety, legal, and google play to define the distribution models and defense-in-depth safety strategies for AI-generated apps, ensuring strict compliance with Android ecosystem standards.
  • Bridge foundational models with product applications. Navigate complex engineering challenges integrating LLM-based coding agents with existing developer infrastructure (e.g., cloud run sandboxing, omnilab, play developer APIs).

  • Familiarity with trust and safety, policy compliance, and platform distribution policies for consumer-facing AI and mobile products.
  • Knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), developer tools (IDEs, Buganizer, Gerrit), mobile application architectures (Android), and multi-agent systems (RAG, Model Context Protocol (MCP)).
