The Global Engineering Lab (GEL) Operations team is where hands-on engineering meets real-world impact. We support cutting-edge development work by keeping our labs running safely, efficiently, and reliably. If you enjoy solving problems, working with hardware, and improving how labs operate, this is a team where your work truly matters! The Senior GEL Technician plays a vital role in day-to-day lab success. This position supports engineers and lab users by maintaining equipment, troubleshooting issues, and improving lab processes. You’ll be hands-on in a dynamic environment, contributing directly to lab reliability, safety, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electro-mechanical equipment using schematics and diagnostic tools
Install, dismantle, adjust, and assemble equipment following layout plans and technical documentation
Work from schematics, diagrams, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, preventative maintenance, and trouble-shooting functions of lab equipment
Support rack assembly, OS imaging, cabling, and server system setup
Assist with lab operations including inventory, material handling, and documentation
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate degree in a technical field, relevant apprenticeship, or equivalent practical experience
Hands-on experience with electro-mechanical systems or lab equipment
Familiarity with Windows or Linux operating systems
Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work actively in large lab environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting engineering or validation labs
Experience and training in lab or equipment safety protocols
Familiarity with Jira, Outlook, Teams, and internal lab or engineering tools
Experience with server rack assembly and cable management
Background in preventative maintenance and calibration programs
The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:
$26.50 - $44.00 an hourAdditional compensation may include benefits, bonuses and equity.
