DESCRIPTION:
As a Director of Project Management at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will guide critical strategic initiatives that drive our mission of enabling customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. You'll oversee complex, cross-functional projects spanning multiple divisions, working closely with leadership to deliver impactful results. This role combines strategic vision with practical execution, requiring you to establish project governance frameworks, enhance operational efficiency, and develop collaborative teams. You'll manage portfolios of strategic initiatives focused on business growth, operational efficiency, and digital transformation while ensuring alignment with corporate objectives. The position offers the opportunity to create significant value through leadership of key programs that directly contribute to our company's continued growth and success in serving science globally.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Advanced Degree plus 6 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree plus 8 years of progressive project/program management experience in complex organizations
• Preferred Fields of Study: Business, Engineering, or related field
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification highly desired
• Lean Six Sigma certification preferred (Green Belt minimum, Black Belt ideal)
• Demonstrated success leading large-scale transformation initiatives and change management programs
• Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and resource management
• Excellent stakeholder management abilities and leadership communication skills
• Experience developing and supporting successful teams
• Experience working in regulated environments, preferably life sciences or healthcare
• Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities
• Ability to operate effectively in a matrix organization
• Expertise in project management methodologies, tools, and best practices
• Demonstrated ability to influence through collaboration
• Proficiency with project management software and MS Office suite
• Travel required by role (typically 20-40%)
• Strong risk management and decision-making capabilities
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work effectively across different time zones and cultures
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $160,100.00–$220,000.00.This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
