Senior Staff Software Engineer, Search Discover Feed Recommendation Infrastructure

With your technical expertise you will manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. You will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions.

Search Discover's AI transformation aims to evolve the platform from a traditional recommendation feed into an intelligent, GenAI-powered engine that provides deep personalization for billions of users through innovations like natural language steering and AI-generated content like revolutionizing how users interact with and guide their feeds and transforming notification and feed with AI-powered high-quality, real-time and deeply integrated contents.

US: $262000 - $365000 (USD) + 25% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural work required to bring GenAI capabilities to billions of users.
• Drive initiatives to reduce serving latency and optimize infrastructure capacity, ensuring a seamless and efficient experience at scale.
• Consolidate our efforts into a unified GenAI platform that supports both offline generation and real-time inference.
• Identify optimization and simplification opportunities across multiple work streams with GenAI Infrastructure. Build prototype for proof of concept.
• Coordinate development across teams and drive launches.

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience programming in C++, Java, Go or Python.
• 7 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
• 5 years of experience with design and architecture; and testing/launching software products.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
• 3 years of experience working in an organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
