Job description
The Special Projects team nurtures state-of-the-art intelligence ideas into powerful, usable features and systems. We work with the latest AI research and our talented research teams to build innovative applications of those ideas on Apple platforms. A key part of the team success incoludes building high quality infrastructure and tooling for ML inference and evaluation.. These systems and infrastructure use both internal and external technologies to help the team move quickly.
Research, discuss, and debate the latest in intelligence capabilities across the industry, and the ways those capabilities could form the foundation of future Apple features and products. Including which ones are not a good fit.
Implement or modify existing backend infrastructure using containers and cloud-native technologies.
Partner closely with other teams to design, build, and own evaluation systems.
Implement Python and Apple-native tooling and systems to support the team.
Create robust, scalable architectures for systems that handle data orchestration for AI features
Build tools that help make complex AI systems observable, understandable and debuggable
Proficiency in at least one modern language like Go, TypeScript, Swift, or equivalent.
Familiarity with Python
Experience with VM & Container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)(
Experience building web services, and full stack web applications
Experience with Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery systems
Collaboration skills and experience working both with small teams and across multiple teams
Experience bringing AI systems from research to production
Experience building large-scale ML evaluation systems with any technical stack
Experience with Swift and writing Swift applications on client and server
Experience writing code to network and connect and synchronize multiple devices under test

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $181,100 and $318,400, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
