Job description

We are looking for a manager dedicated to understanding, building, and enabling innovative camera features that will contribute directly to various camera technologies, such as Portrait mode, new video features, and new photo capture methodologies. Will require active management and participation in quality evaluations for new features and algorithms through experimental studies in the lab and in the field and providing direct feedback to the engineering teams. You'll be a critical part of a fast-paced, collaborative team that thrives in a high-energy environment.

Strong understanding of how to test image and video quality characteristics in the field, including Auto Exposure, Auto Focus, and White Balance.
Excellent sense of photography, videography, and cinematography on both technical and artistic levels, and understanding of what makes a good photograph or video.
Understanding the Human Visual System and how it impacts our perception of photos and videos about the real-world Experience.
Knowledge of some photography lab equipment and experience operating camera systems in a lab.
M.S. or Ph.D. in Imaging, Color, Vision Computer, Optics Science, or equivalent with 5+ years of experience in a related field.

5+ years of experience managing teams in a fast-paced environment
Hands-on experience with objective and subjective image quality evaluation, including color accuracy, noise reduction, HDR, tone mapping, and sharpness.
Strong understanding of imaging systems, including camera sensors, optics, image signal processors, and computational photography techniques.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate and work cross-functionally

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $176,600 and $313,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
