Job description
In this highly technical role, you will be responsible for crafting new MAC layer ideas and developing innovative proprietary cross-layer algorithms and systems tailored for new and emerging applications. You will be vollaborating closely with internal teams. You will ensure they stay informed about the development and direction of the standards. This collaboration also includes helping them to define features and requirements, develop new insights, and ultimately help them to achieve outstanding performance for products.
Participate in and contribute to MAC protocols and algorithms to wireless standards organizations.
Analyze standards contributions to comprehend performance benefits, implementation complexities, and architecture and design tradeoffs.
Simulate system-level performance of MAC contributions using simulation tools like ns3, OpNet, C/C++, or Python.
Collaborate closely with internal teams to keep them informed about updates to standards and ensure alignment on priorities.
Develop, propose, and simulate innovative proprietary MAC layer protocols and cross-layer algorithms for emerging applications.
Collaborate with hardware and software teams to evaluate and simulate encouraged system level performance.
Design innovative PHY/MAC cross-layer algorithms to achieve robust performance in all environments.
Minimum requirement of a bachelors degree
Proven track record of participation in wireless standardization organizations, such as IEEE 802.11, IEEE 802.15, Bluetooth, UWB, or similar technologies.
Familiarity with MAC protocols and algorithms of wireless standards, such as IEEE 802.11, IEEE 802.15, Bluetooth SIG, or similar technologies.
Knowledge of wireless MAC protocols and algorithms, including channel access, Quality of Service (QoS), power saving, low latency, coexistence, security, and privacy.
Experience with modeling and simulations using tools like ns3, OpNet, C/C++, or Python.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to present complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
Self-motivated and passionate about finding innovative solutions to problems.
MSEE or Ph.D. strongly preferred, with relevant experience in communication systems or signal processing.
Experience with MAC modem architecture, algorithms, hardware design, and software design.
Experience with PHY/MAC cross-layer algorithm design.
Strong and proven leadership abilities.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $126,800 and $220,900, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
