We are seeking a Principal Product Manager – Technical to own and drive the product vision, roadmap, and execution for a next-generation robot platform. This product is designed to validate safety-certifiable architecture and cost-optimized design, bridging our current developer platform and mass-market product.
In this role, you will lead
cross-functional coordination across hardware engineering, software, safety, science, and operations to deliver a platform that achieves aggressive cost targets while meeting safety certification requirements for unattended autonomous operation in homes. You will define product requirements, manage trade-offs between cost, performance, and safety, and own the end-to-end product lifecycle from first builds through large-scale home deployments and data collection.
The ideal candidate thrives at the intersection of hardware, software, and safety-critical systems, with experience shipping consumer or prosumer electronics at scale and a strong technical foundation to drive architecture decisions across compute, sensors, and mechanical design.
Key job responsibilities
- Own the next-generation platform product roadmap end-to-end: requirements definition, architecture trade-offs, milestone planning, and delivery from engineering validation through mass deployment
- Drive
BOM optimization to achieve aggressive cost targets through compute platform decisions, sensor suite rationalization, and DFM execution
- Define and manage product requirements for safety-certifiable autonomous operation, including hazard analysis and functional safety concepts
- Lead
cross-functional coordination across hardware (mechanical, electrical, compute), software (runtime, autonomy stack), science (locomotion, manipulation, navigation), and safety/compliance teams
- Translate learnings from current developer platform into architecture decisions for the next-generation product
- Define success metrics for large scale deployments
- Drive trade-off decisions between weight, cost, sensor fidelity, compute capability, and safety margins
- Partner with software teams to ensure the autonomy stack fits within a product-ready compute footprint
- Ensure architectural decisions de-risk the downstream programs
About the team
Fauna Robotics, an Amazon company, is building capable, safe, and genuinely delightful robots for everyday life. Our goal is simple: make robots people actually want to live and interact with in everyday human spaces.
We believe that future won’t arrive until building for robotics becomes far more accessible. Today, too much effort is spent reinventing the fundamentals. We’re changing that by developing tightly integrated hardware and software systems that make it faster, safer, and more intuitive to create real-world robotic products.
Our work spans the full stack: mechanical design, control systems, dynamic modeling, and intelligent software. The focus is not just functionality, but experience. We’re building robots that feel responsive, expressive, and genuinely useful.
At Fauna, you’ll work at the frontier of this space, helping define how robots move, manipulate, and interact with people in natural environments. It’s an opportunity to solve hard problems across hardware and software with a team focused on making robotics accessible and joyful to build.
If you care about making robotics real for everyone and building systems that are as delightful as they are capable, we’re interested in hearing from you.
