Mail Data Foundations Engineering Manager

As the Mail Data Foundations Engineering Manager, you will lead the team responsible for Apple's connectivity to the world's email providers, as well as Calendar, Reminders, Notes, and Contacts for our Microsoft enterprise customers. Your leadership will ensure data integrity across all providers, enabling the intelligence features that define the modern Mail experience. You will serve as a key site leader for Apple's Mail engineering presence in San Diego.

Lead and grow a diverse team of engineers and testing-focused engineers, fostering a culture of quality, collaboration, and inclusion.
Own Apple's technical relationships with major email providers such as Google, Yahoo, and Microsoft, driving integrations and resolving provider-specific challenges.
Ensure the reliability and integrity of data flowing from all email providers into Mail and Microsoft integration across Mail, Calendar, Reminders, Notes, and Contacts.
Serve as a site leader in San Diego, partnering with cross-functional teams in Cupertino to integrate the site into the broader Mail organization.

You have a BS in Computer Science or equivalent

You have some experience with email and communication protocols (e.g., IMAP, SMTP, EWS, CardDAV, CalDAV) and a strong grasp of client/server communication patterns.
You have experience working directly with external partners or third-party services, including negotiating technical integrations and navigating provider-specific constraints.
You have a strong testing philosophy and experience leading or closely collaborating with engineers in test and triage roles, with an emphasis on reliability and data integrity.
You are energized by site-level leadership and the opportunity to help build and scale an engineering location.

From Google and Yahoo to Microsoft Exchange powering enterprise workflows across Mail, Calendar, Reminders, Notes, and Contacts — your team is the critical foundation that makes intelligence possible. Based in San Diego, you will also help shape and grow Apple's engineering presence at this site, building strong connections to our cross-functional teams in Cupertino. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $188,200 and $325,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
