This is a hands-on interdisciplinary development role that will require versatility across a variety of tasks in a highly collaborative environment.
Hands-on design, assembly, validation, and development of new R&D equipment
Incorporate versatile design solutions that also allow for robust and repeatable processes
Able to provide scalable solutions of key equipment features for technology transfer to partner teams and/or vendors
Hands-on testing and validation of critical sub-systems to systematically qualify the overall complex equipment system in development labs
Clear communication of design intent and features, empirical validation trials, optimization and improvement opportunities, documentation, and reporting results
Collaboratively work with cross-functional teams to plan and align specific objectives to equipment design features and validation plan
B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with minimum of 10 years of industry experience
Experience with mechanical design in CAD systems (Solidworks, NX, AutoCAD)
Experience in complex equipment system design, assembly, testing, validation, bring-up
Experience w/ various precision motion systems, vacuum systems, machine imaging & sensing systems, handling and/or gripping of miniaturized components, pneumatics, etc.
Experience with troubleshooting equipment issues by identifying the root cause and implementing an effective solution
PhD degree with 3+ years or MS degree with 5+ years of experience working on related field preferred
Good technical communication to clearly layout design features, capability, and challenges
Flexible and collaborative: willing to work in fast paced lab environment and open to incorporate various ideas and feedback
Attentive to detail with demonstrated ability to work with teams to produce professional, high-quality results
Proven track record to bring novel equipment design from R&D to scalable solutions
AI/ML experience to augment or enhance mechanical design, data analysis, or training models
Programming (such as Python, C++, or Labview) for system controls, GUI and algorithms
Well organized and clear communication of in depth technical results and issues to executive management

Display Technologies Organization is looking for an engineer to work on technology development of new display and optical module architectures for future Apple products.
The engineer will be working in a highly technical and fast paced team from Apple’s Module Technology Center (MTC). The candidate is expected to work smart and efficiently to design complex R&D equipment, rigorously validate systems, enable novel processes, communicate & report technical learnings to cross-functional collaborators and management. The candidate is expected to have multi-disciplinary skillsets that can efficient work with cross-functional engineers in other domain areas, such as optics, process, electrical, control systems.
