We’re looking for a Software Engineer for the Same Day Delivery Experience team to help ensure we have a compelling and friction-free ‘delivery in hours’ experience available to our customers, and help drive continuous innovation and improvement of the delivery experience across all phases of shopping, buying, and pre and post purchase experience.
This role is at the forefront of Generative AI innovation within the Sub-Same Day organization. As part of the
LLM Foundations team, you will design, build, and scale AI-powered tools that leverage Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (
RAG),
Natural Language Processing (NLP), prompt engineering, and agentic AI workflows to enhance customer experience and protect.
Key job responsibilities:
Designing and building AI-powered tools leveraging LLMs,
RAG architectures, vector databases, prompt engineering, and agentic orchestration for customer-facing and internal applications.
Developing and optimizing retrieval pipelines, embedding models, and context-augmented generation systems to deliver accurate, grounded AI outputs.
Prototyping and iterating on new Agentic AI capabilities including fine-tuning, few-shot learning, chain-of-thought reasoning, and tool-use patterns
Working with team members on design approaches for scalable AI/ML systems that serve the Same Day Delivery network.
Diving deep into complex technical problems spanning
LLM application development, data interpretation, and demand planning systems
Raising the bar for operational excellence and development practices.
Key job responsibilities

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
