The Animal Nutrition Center, a department within The Department of Animal Health, is a centralized food preparation location that provides for the nutrition needs of the Walt Disney World live animal collection! Our mission is to:

Provide the highest quality of animal nutrition as part of the Animal, Science, and Environment animal wellness program.
Inspire guests to conservation action by sharing information about the science of animal nutrition.
As an Animal Nutrition Assistant Seasonal cast member, you will be primarily responsible for the accurate preparation of animal diets or assist in delivering diets to animal areas with most of the time spent outdoors in the elements as needed. The Animal Nutrition Center is a 7 day a week operation typically operating between the hours of 5 am-3:30pm, however extended hours may apply.
You will report to the Animal Nutrition Center Zoological Manager.
This is a Seasonal role, with various work hours per week.
Follow food prep instructions to prepare accurate diets and package items according to prep sheets.
Adhere to safety guidelines and maintain sanitary conditions as outlined in the ANC SOG, communicating inventory changes or needs and maintaining accurate receipt, storage, rotation, and labeling of all food items.
Ensure facilities and all equipment are kept in a safe and orderly manner.
Interact with Animal Husbandry, Maintenance, Horticulture, Education, and other partnering departments.
Provide nutritional information and conservation messages through Guest and Cast interactions and magical moments.
Practical understanding of basic nutrition concepts and how they apply to animal health and welfare.
Ability to move 200-pound carts daily.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and team lift approximately 75 pounds throughout the day.
Knowledge of proper food safety and how this impacts diet quality.
Experience working in a team environment.
Valid U.S. driver’s license and personal mode of transportation to travel to and from the workplace and to behind-the-scenes work locations.
Full availability for any shift, seven (7) days per week, including weekends and holidays.
Computer proficiency with Word and Excel
Knowledge of and use of a variety of food preparation equipment
Ability to portion food items using standard weights and measurements (U.S. and metric)
Facilitate guest interactions
2+ years of college education and/or experience in the field of diet prep, animal care, food industry, or laboratory experience
