The Software Location QE team operates at the intersection of algorithm development and quality engineering. We design experiments, build analysis pipelines, and run validation campaigns that prove (or disprove) that location algorithms meet Apple's rigorous standards across real-world and simulated environments.We're looking for an engineer with a deep understanding of what quality means for GNSS positioning. You will play a hands-on role in sustaining the operational foundation of our validation infrastructure , owning the health, configuration, and readiness of devices, test rigs, and receivers to ensure continuous, uninterrupted test execution.
Drive reliability, observability, and clean failure recovery to keep test execution predictable across the entire lab footprint
Provisioning new hardware, benches and managing software/firmware lifecycle
Equipment support : Maintain calibration integrity from source to receiver, owning the environment where every test run is trusted, repeatable, and production-representative.
Ensure new hardware, benches come online quickly and existing benches stay up-to-date with evolving tooling, dependencies, and test requirements
Troubleshoot configuration failures, integrate infrastructure changes with CI and test orchestration systems, and partner with IT, networking, and lab ops teams
Root-Cause Analysis — Debug GNSS/cellular/Wi-Fi positioning logs to isolate regressions; develop custom analysis scripts and statistical models to quantify impact.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or equivalent experience.
3+ years of experience in GNSS testing, positioning validation, or wireless system verification.
Proficiency in Python for data analysis, scripting, and automation
Experience with GNSS/A-GNSS simulation equipment (Spirent, LabSat) and live signal roof top testing for functional & performance validation
Familiarity with QA methodologies and test automation strategy.
Experience in debugging logs to triage and root-cause issues ,with development of custom analysis scripts considered a plus
Ability to drive cross-functional communications and understanding dependencies while also ensuring a tight timeline can be maintained
Experience in design and development of automated test harnesses & data analysis tooling
Knowledge of the chipset validation lifecycle , from silicon bring-up through production-level algorithm tuning.
Understanding of A-GNSS protocols, multi-constellation processing (GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, BDS), and sensor-fusion architectures
Knowledge of machine learning algorithms and novel genAI techniques that can be leveraged for automation and analysis
Ability to read and interpret 3GPP location-service specifications (LPP, SUPL) and translate logs to verify misses against conformance requirements
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting algorithm validation results to cross-functional audiences.
Prior experience in fast-paced, agile environment with the flexibility to pivot quickly to support evolving product requirements.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role.
