We are seeking an exceptional Senior Software Engineer to lead the design and development of the next-generation Speech-to-Text APIs. In this role, you will be at the intersection of software engineering, machine learning, and product design. You will drive the technical strategy to integrate cutting-edge ML and generative AI capabilities into elegant, scalable, developer-friendly APIs.
This is a highly technical role requiring strong technical leadership and the ability to partner effectively across teams and functions.
Lead design and development of Apple’s public Swift Speech APIs
Drive the technical roadmap for API evolution, focusing on integrating advancements in ML technology.
Collaborate closely with ML research scientists to productionize state-of-the-art speech models.
Partner with teams across Apple to build cohesive and impactful user experiences leveraging speech technology.
Champion software engineering best practices, coding standards, architectural patterns, and API design standards.
Mentor and guide other engineers on the team, fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and collaboration.
Software engineering experience with strong programming skills in Swift and/or Objective-C (5+ years)
Experience utilizing Swift to build well-documented, easy-to-use APIs
Strong software architecture skills
Demonstrated experience planning and delivering software projects with and for cross-functional teams
Outstanding communication skills
Bachelors degree in Computer Science or other equivalent technical field
Background in building applications on constrained hardware systems (limited memory, processing, and power)
Experience integrating speech recognition or other machine learning technologies
