Position Summary
Seeking a top performer with a passion for advancing personalized medicine and translational research within healthcare systems. A successful candidate will be creative, driven, and resourceful, with responsibility to help transition Illumina’s NGS technologies from research to clinical diagnostic testing.
Territory
This territory account manager will work with clients to expand Illumina’s footprint, drive revenue, and build existing healthcare relationships in New York City, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Rhode Island.
Responsibilities
- Engage customers to effectively position and sell complex workflows
- Successfully navigate and manage a multi-tiered sales process for both capital equipment, consumables, and services
- Understand clinical and economic trends driving decision making in current healthcare market
- Provide accurate sales forecasts, with a focus on instrument placement and reagent pull through
- Build a short/medium/long term sales pipeline and manage the necessary levels of sales leads, prospects, and opportunities
- Build and maintain relationships at all levels of the customer organization
- Develop and execute on territory and account-specific sales plans to meet assigned sales quotas
- Understand competitive dynamics
- Deliver compelling technical/scientific seminars and presentations on Illumina products and their capabilities
- Partner cross-functionally with Illumina colleagues in sales, service, support, and marketing to appropriately address the needs of customer base
- Demonstrate command of scientific knowledge to engage in collaborative sales process
- A solid understanding of genomics, next generation sequencing and genotyping. This is the foundation of the position and the portfolio
- Develop high-value, long-term profitable customer accounts through relationship building sales techniques, including selling at the C-level
Requirements
- Strong technical background in molecular biology, sequencing. Genomics expertise highly preferred
- Understanding of the clinical, translational, and healthcare markets
- 8+ years of proven sales experience in life science capital equipment OR molecular diagnostic sales, high preference for genomics sales experience
- Strong understanding of current trends, challenges, opportunities within the healthcare industry
- Previous demonstrated success with complex sales and within in multi-layered environment preferred
- Strong negotiation skills including high-value capital equipment
- Proven track record growing specific, targeted markets
- Demonstrated track record in lead generation and prospecting
- Highly adaptable and independent
- Excellent listening, time management, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Team minded approach to selling
- Self-starter: desire to seek creative solutions, learn and adapt to a changing landscape with a hunter mentality
- Candidate should reside in the territory, working in the field and from home office
- Life Science Degree is required, advanced degree is preferred

The estimated base salary range for the Executive Territory Account Manager, Healthcare - NYC role based in the United States of America is: $118,200 - $177,200. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. The range reflects long‑term growth in the role. Most candidates are hired between the minimum and middle of the range. Placement depends on experience, skills, location, and internal equity. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
